Hand me down or Put me down?

From a young age getting my older relatives clothing was like going shopping itself. However, did it ever occur that in fact i was getting old, worn out, over washed, bobbly pieces of fabric that i would never even try on? Is it wrong to not accept the kindness and generosity but only see the used and abused once beautiful garment folded pleasantly yet smelled of washing powder from another home…but not mine?
